Vision

The purpose of The Copernicus Lectures is to provide scientific information to the public so that they are better equipped to make up their minds when scientific issues impinge upon faith issues. The focus shall be to present informational seminars on Science and Faith subjects in the Greater Toronto Area. The underlying principle of the Copernicus Group is that certain scientific observations contradict the assumption that all matter and life are a result of understandable scientific laws and chance and that all scientifically legitimate observations should be cordially discussed in the public domain.

Definitions

Naturalism

The foundational assumption of origins science that (irrespective of prima face observations) all objects and events shall be interpreted as being the result of natural laws and chance.

Intelligent Design Theory

A theory of origins science based upon the assumption that it is possible that certain objects or events may not be the result of natural laws and chance. This assumption is held to be “unscientific” by many scientists.

Bias Flag

The rigor of a scientific theory is proportional the degree of ad hominem attacks on any person who attempts to rebut the theory. Rigorous science should welcome rebuttals, not attempt to discourage them, as they are a legitimate and indeed integral part of scientific inquiry.
